Our story
About DUNK
DUNK: Developing Unity, Nurturing Knowledge was established on 23rd November 2010, driven by a passion for sport as a force for social change. The idea was born from the founder’s personal experience of exploitation as a young athlete, where opportunities abroad were promised but rarely delivered.
What began as a small social initiative to protect young talents from potential exploitation quickly gained momentum. As community interest and impact grew, DUNK initially expanded in 2012 and 2013 to reach three neighborhoods across Accra and refugee camps in Ghana’s Western Region. Working with what was available, DUNK transformed underused spaces, abandoned lots, community car parks, even private properties, into places where street-connected children and youth could be engaged through play. Sport became the incentive, and staying in school became the goal.
Today, DUNK has impacted thousands of young people across Ghana, providing access to sports, education, and youth empowerment and employability skills. Fifteen years on from its founding, DUNK remains what it has always been: a trusted, community-rooted organization that meets young people where they are and walks with them towards something better.

Advisory Board Members

Board members serve on a voluntary basis, contributing their professional expertise, networks, and commitment to social impact.
Program Managers, Advisors & Consultants
Our Program Managers, Advisors, and Consultants play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and evaluating DUNK’s programs. They bring specialized knowledge in youth development, sports education, and community engagement to ensure our initiatives are effective, sustainable, and aligned with best practices.
Finance, Admin & Logistics Coordinators
The Finance, Admin & Logistics Coordinators are the backbone of DUNK’s operational efficiency. They manage financial planning, budgeting, and reporting to ensure transparency and accountability, and keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Communications & MEL Managers
Communications & MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning) Managers tell DUNK’s story and measure our impact. They manage digital presence, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation frameworks that keep our work visible and accountable.
Project Officers / Volunteers
Project Officers are the frontline implementers of DUNK’s programs across Accra and Tamale. They facilitate sports, deliver educational sessions, provide mentorship, and build relationships with participants and families.
